Gerard Williams III

Co-founder, CEO

Gerard Williams III is the CEO of NUVIA. Prior to co-founding NUVIA, he was a Senior Director at Apple and Chief CPU Architect for nearly a decade with responsibilities for a range of leading-edge CPUs and SoCs across a broad array of devices. Before joining Apple, Gerard spent over 10 years at ARM, as an ARM Fellow, and serving on the ARM Architectural Review and Technical Advisory Boards. While at ARM, he served as a technical advisor for the ARM architecture and CPU development to many key ARM partners. Gerard began his career with tenures at Intel and Texas Instruments. He holds 38 patents to date with multiple pending and holds an MSEE from the University of Missouri Rolla and a BSE from Arkansas State University.

Manu Gulati

Co-founder, SVP of Silicon Engineering

Manu Gulati is the SVP of Silicon Engineering at NUVIA. Prior to co-founding NUVIA, Manu was the lead SoC Architect for consumer hardware at Google, playing a key role in defining the company’s silicon and product roadmaps. Before joining Google, Manu spent eight years at Apple as the lead SoC architect responsible for numerous Apple leading-edge mobile SoCs across a range of devices. Prior to Apple, Manu was at Broadcom, holding a range of senior SoC engineering roles. Manu started his career at AMD and 8×8 and has over 58 issued patents to date. Manu holds a BSEE from I.I.T. Delhi and an MCSE from UC Irvine.

John Bruno

Co-founder, SVP of System Engineering

John Bruno is the SVP of System Engineering at NUVIA and has over 24 years of industry experience. Prior to co-founding NUVIA, he was a System Architect at Google, driving such areas as SoC definition and competitive performance and power analysis. Before joining Google, John spent five years at Apple in a similar role in the company’s platform architecture group where he founded Apple’s silicon competitive analysis team. John started his career in 1996 as an ASIC designer at ATI Technologies Inc. where he climbed the ranks to become the ASIC team leader responsible for multiple mobile GPUs and integrated chipsets. After AMD’s acquisition of ATI, John became the Chief Engineer for the Trinity Fusion APU. John has a BaSC in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Syrus Ziai

VP of Engineering

Syrus Ziai is VP of Engineering at Nuvia.  Syrus started his career as an engineer designing enterprise CPUs and chipsets at HP and has experience in the Venture Capital industry as an EIR.  Prior to joining Nuvia, he held VP of Engineering positions at PsiQuantum, Qualcomm, and Ikanos Communications. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rice University and an MS Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and is an inventor on 8 US patents.

Jon Carvill

VP of Marketing

Jon Carvill is Vice President of Marketing at NUVIA, where he is responsible for the company’s external marketing, communications, and recruiting efforts. Prior to joining NUVIA, Jon was Vice President of Technology Leadership Marketing at Intel. Jon brings tremendous depth and experience in technology marketing and communications having also held senior roles at Facebook, Qualcomm, Globalfoundries, AMD, and ATI over the course of his career. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia as well as an honors diploma in Public Relations from Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario.

Anthony Scarpino

Senior Director of Software Engineering

Anthony Scarpino is the Senior Director of Software Engineering at NUVIA. Prior to joining NUVIA, Anthony was Senior Director of Software Development for AMD (previously ATI), having held many different technical leadership roles in his 24 years at ATI/AMD. During his time at ATI/AMD, Anthony initiated and developed Apple, Linux, Android, and SunOS offerings and is an inventor on 4 issued US patents. Prior to ATI, Anthony worked for IBM, Motorola, and Mobile Computing. He is a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, holds a B.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo, and an M.A.Sc. from the University of Toronto.
